The beginning

A common theme at this time was the impact of auto enrolment. This was not helped by the lack of information and the lateness at which some payroll software providers came to the market. After a foray into the auto enrolment middleware market it soon became apparent that accountants saw payroll as a necessary evil. Something they needed to provide to their clients to be able to provide a comprehensive accounts solution.

By providing this service, accountants often had to sacrifice profit with many treating it as a loss leading part of their business. Providing a team, the training and support makes it difficult to recoup these costs through what clients will pay for payroll services.

Kite Miller has offices in South Yorkshire and Inverness and is made up a team who have either worked in the accountancy sector or for large outsourcers, such as Cap Gemini and Capita. Payroll processing is a different type of business and you require a certain set of skills to be able to do this.
